The Used is an Alternative rock/Post-Hardcore band from Orem, Utah. The band consists of vocalist Bert McCracken, guitarist Quinn Allman, bassist Jeph Howard, and drummer Dan Whiteside. The band started in 2001 in the basement of Jeph’s house where they recorded their first demo CD called “Demos from the Basement.” In the beginning, members of the band struggled with homelessness, poverty, and drug abuse. The band originally started under the name “Used” but later found out a band from Boston had already trademarked the name, so the band added “The” to the beginning to become “The Used.” The members chose the name after their friends claimed they felt "used" when contact was lost between them and band members due to them becoming more involved in the band. In 2002, the band signed with Reprise Records and released their first album “The Used.” This Album had four singles: "A Box Full of Sharp Objects", "The Taste of Ink", "Buried Myself Alive", and "Blue and Yellow.” Since then, the band has released three studio albums: “In Love and Death”, “Lies for the Liars”, and “Artwork.” They have also released a double-sided live CD, “Berth”, and a B-side EP from the “Lies for the Liars” album called “Shallow Believer.” The band is currently writing for their new album and touring.
